November 8, 2020 -Hey Guys! So my girl is getting pretty far along. I’m pretty sure she will lay her eggs within a month or so. Her pre egg she’d puts it in about 3 weeks. My question is do I keep feeding her? She is at the point where I can start to notice the eggs buldging her sides out a little.

Watch for weight gain or loss. Use a kitchen scale to monitor. Stay flexible and alert. Each ball python morph may behave a little differently.

September 26, 2022 -I went to a reptile expo yesterday and 80% of the snakes there were ball pythons. They're the most marketable snakes right now and the demand drives breeding, breeding drives new morphs. I wish people stopped looking at them like shiny pokemon and just respected the animals for what they are instead of forcing gene combinations that would never exist in the wild, but here we are. ... There's a whole industry in the African countries where they are native. Pregnant females are caught and held until they lay eggs, then released.

Breeding a small or underweight snake often results in fewer eggs, more egg casualties and harm to the mother. Picking a male is much easier. He does not need to weigh much more than 700 grams and will normally be smaller than a female. If you are breeding for a specific morph then you will need to pick parents that exhibit strong traits.
